Ahmer is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has over 21 years of experience in both Assurance & Advisory services across a number of financial services sectors including Insurance, Banking, Asset Management and Structured Finance. He joined MHA in November 2024 from EY Ireland. Prior to joining MHA, Ahmer spent 13 years with EY and 9 years with KPMG (Jersey, Dublin & London).

Ahmer has a diverse set of experience spanning multiple sectors and service lines. He advises clients on a diverse range of topics including technical accounting, governance and internal controls, complex investment valuation and recently, the implementation of IFRS 17 in the insurance industry.

His experience encompasses delivering the audits of a number of the largest Insurance, Wealth and Asset Management and Banking clients as well as a number of advisory led banking projects.

At EY, Ahmer led the audits of large insurers such as Zurich, Asset Management clients including State Street Federated and Lone Star and large banks including KBC Bank. At KPMG Ireland, his portfolio consisted of hedge funds, mutual funds, structured finance vehicles, Permanent TSB Bank as well as Ireland’s largest Bancassurer – Irish Life & Permanent plc. At KPMG London, he spent a year within the transaction services department and delivered a number of sell side financial due diligence projects and also advised Royal Bank of Scotland on credit risk.

Ahmer is extremely passionate about helping his clients, making a real difference to the wellbeing of his teams and in developing a seamless operating environment by working smarter not harder. He loves new challenges and relishes working with a diverse set of professionals.

Throughout his career, he has always inspired many teams to maximise the potential of their own purpose.

Outside of work, Ahmer plays a variety of sports including cricket, tennis, badminton and loves to travel the world. He is also an avid fan of Formula 1 and is fascinated by the latest technological innovations.
